The Action

Ways People is Helping:
1- The countries are trying to apply solar heaters.
2- In 1990 a law said that EPA ahould start doing something for this problem, the acid rain.

Ways to Help:
1- Tell others this issue. Your classmates, neighbors, etc.
2- Turn off lights, t.v.'s, computers, etc.off when you aren't using it.

The Effects

- Humans are affected to. We breath all the pollutans in the air.
-Forest are harm because when this acid rain falls into the ground it takes the things trees need to survive.
-Fishes in lakes and streams are dying because the acid rain and their water is mixing.
-PH levels are getting to a stronger level and more chemicals are mixing to go to the cloud.

*Food Webs*: The food webs have a lot to do. Animals are going to stay without a food web. Animals are dying because of acid rain and the animlas that eat those animals the can't because there are no more of those animals.

-Summary from an Article: Shellfish are losing their calcium. Now they aren't strong like they were someday because of CO2 falling into oceans.

The Cause

Sources- As we know the main source is the pollution, but that pollution contains... Everything beggins with the chemical reaction that beggins with things like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide, this things are called compounds. They go up into the sky and they are mixed with water and oxygen and more chemicals to form more of acidic pollutans, that is acid rain.

Key Chemicals- Power plants throw a lot of sulfur dioxide when fossil is burned, also it throws nitrogen oxides. Fossil is a type of fuel, like coal, that also helps to make electricity. Also the exhaut from cars, trucks and buses throws nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide to the air.

The Problem (What is Acid Rain and Acidity)

Acid rain is the same water in a cloud that turns in acidic water because of all the pollution that the air contains. This type of rain can appear in many forms. Wet deposition is rain, etc. (The things that depend on water) become into a lower PH level (More acidic than it was new). Dry depositon is when the gases and de dust particles (little particles) become acidic.

Acidity is... They are two ways to describe the chemical compounds. To measure acidity you need a PH scale that is the one that runs from 0 to 14. The 0 is more acidic than the 14, it is backwards. When it is 14 it is called basic or alkaline. The middle one is the #7 and it is called neutral.
